To the Fringe!
Last summer, the Potluck produced THE BATTLE OF SPANKTOWN, by Jeffrey Pfeiffer (potlucked in July 2009) as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.
The argument:
A hallucinatory historical pageant concerning the denizens of Spanktown, New Jersey in the year 1777, and the heroic battle betwixt the Mole and the Badger for the soul of a budding nation. A bawdy history lesson steeped in legend.
The cast:
Matthew Baldiga, Chris Bannow, David Michael Brown, Jarett Karlsberg, Adam Laupus, Patricia Lynn, Rebeca B. Miller, Samantha Northart, Ben Sumrall, Ari Vigoda, Brett Waldon, and Ian White
The team:
Allison Bressi (asst producer), Jeffrey Collier (lights), Emily DeSimone (costumes), Heidi Handelsman (director), Samantha Hirsch (asst director), Miriam Hyfler (stage manager), Ashley Pridmore-Abrego (sets), Ian Roettger (fights), Aaron Rubinstein (asst stage manager) and Lanie Zipoy (producer)

Why step out?
Every play reaches the point at which readings are not enough - to truly finish the play, the playwright needs the play to be produced. The Potluck continues to seek out opportunities for its homegrown plays to find their legs, particularly the plays that present tough artistic challenges.
