1. Heidi selects a play.
2. Heidi coordinates with the playwright to figure out the best date for a potluck. Usually, they fall on Fridays or Sundays.
3. Heidi invites everyone on the invitation list to the potluck, about three weeks in advance. She also invites actors.
4. Once the play is cast, Heidi sends the script to the actors.
5. The day of the potluck draws near. Heidi makes a lot of photocopies.
6. Potluck day! Actors, writers, and guests arrive. Food goes on the table. Actors are given a chance to ask any questions they may have about the play or their characters, before the reading gets underway. Someone locates the corkscrew.
